Barcelona. A special city. Multicultural. Full of history. Full of art. Everywhere. Markets with handcrafted yewellery, paintings, self made clothes.
In the world which is overloaded with clothes from Zara, Mango and H&M more and more people are on the search for special things.
Unique things which makes them stand out of the crowd.
While walking through these art markets, you have the feeling to walk through a fairy tail.
The architecture of this city makes this feeling possible. After the sunset the lights reflected on the wall from the XIV century push you back in time.
You see the things, people talking, laughing. The vendors seem to know each other and are a big family.
It seems to be the perfect life. Create art. And sell it to the people who appreciate what you have done.
But is it really a fairy tail? Or is everything a mask? And it is a fight for surviving?
I had the possibility to spend time with an artist, from the beginning of the creation of her artistic things to the end on the market.
Maribel Hernandez Martinez worked in a multinational company during the week and on the weekends she felt in her vocational berufung – the art.
This photographic report shows the huge workload and the incredible care of the details to design a piece. This is yewellery designed out of recycled CDs .
